Element Fresh
Always jam-packed at lunchtime, Element Fresh is known for its reasonably priced fresh salads and sandwiches. Also on the menu are an assortment of light pastas, soups, breakfast sets, and Asian dishes. Make sure to try one of the many fresh smoothies and fruit juices. Very popular for healthy dining, Element Fresh has opened five other branches in Shanghai.

Kabb
Kabb is a casual bar and grill located in the heart of Xintiandi. It serves burgers, sandwiches, salads, and other American-food standards. Kabb is one of the few restaurants in Xintiandi that offers large portions at reasonable prices.

Malone's
This sports bar and restaurant has been a favorite among expats since it opened in 1994. Its comprehensive menu includes many American favorites and arguably serves the best burgers in town. A Future Perfect
Hidden in an alley in the French Concession, A Future Perfect serves delicious fusion cuisine. The soups, salads, and pastas are fresh and reasonably priced. Known for its extraordinary garden dining, this restaurant has innovative meat and seafood dishes. Make sure to call before going as it is a difficult place to find.

Casa 13
Recently opened by chef/restaurateur Eduardo, Casa 13 is located in the old French Consul-General's home in the French concession. The restaurant serves excellent Italian-Spanish-fusion dishes, although as it is rather new there can be hiccups with service. A very popular destination at the moment; recommend booking well in advance.
