Communications Director Wanted
Start Date: Immediate
The US-China Business Council (USCBC, www.uschina.org) seeks a communications director for a full-time position immediately. The USCBC is a private, nonprofit, membership association that represents US corporations with business interests in China.
Responsibilities
- Development and implementation of an effective communications strategy, working closely with the president and other staff
- Proactive press outreach planning and execution
- Organize press briefings/media attendance at events
- Development and maintenance of USCBC issue positions
- Coordination with membership on communications issues
- Draft and manage press releases
- Respond to media calls and requests
- Manage media contacts database
- Op-ed development and drafting
- Management of outside communication consultants or service providers
- Development (incl. editing, production) of communications materials (handouts, reports, etc.)
Qualifications
- Passion for developing and executing effective communications strategies
- Energy and initiative
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proven editing skills.
- Relevant experience in communications, as a member of the media, in public relations (especially public affairs work), or work on communications with an international association.
- Experience with websites, grassroots public relations a plus
- Bachelor's degree
- US permanent work authorization (US citizen or lawful permanent resident)
Terms
The position is full-time. Starting salary is competitive. Benefits
include three weeks annual leave, health insurance on a shared-cost
basis, SEP-IRA after one year of service, annual performance bonus, and
a stimulating work environment.
