Event: Trade Policy and Competing in the Global Economy

The 2008 Consuming Industries Trade Policy Conference will focus on the importance of the consuming industry (manufacturers and retailers) to the US economy, and will explore the trade policy issues that affect companies in these industries. The conference will highlight the impact of trade policy and restrictions on the ability of manufacturers in the US to access raw materials at globally competitive prices, as well as its impact on US consumers and the retail industry. In addition, the conference will address the politics of international trade in a presidential year and the implications of these developments for US-based manufacturers, suppliers, retailers and consumers. Each year, the Asia Society hosts the high-profile, two-and-a-half-day Asian Corporate Conference, focusing on timely economic and business issues in the Asia-Pacific region.
