He Guoqiang

He Guoqiang is a new member of the Standing Committee of the 17th CCP Central Committee Politburo and secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the 17th CCP Central Committee.
Born in 1943, He is a native of Xiangxiang, Hunan. He graduated from the Beijing Institute of Chemical Engineering's Inorganic Chemistry Department in 1966 and holds the title of senior engineer. He joined the CCP in 1966.
He worked at the Lunan Chemical Fertilizer Plant in Shandong from 1967-80, eventually becoming deputy director and deputy chief engineer at the plant. He served as director general of the Department of Chemical and Petroleum Industry in the Shandong Provincial Government from 1984-1986. He was appointed deputy secretary of the Ji'nan, Shandong, CCP and member of the Standing Committee of the Shandong CCP in 1986. The next year he was promoted to secretary of the Ji'nan CCP. From 1991-1996, he served as vice minister of the Chemical Industry. He was vice governor and acting governor of Fujian from 1996-97 and governor of Fujian from 1997-99.
He was an alternate member of the 12th, 13th, and 14th CCP central committees, a member of the 15th CCP Central Committee, and a member of the 16th CCP Central Committee Politburo and Secretariat, as well as head of the CCP Central Committee Organization Department.
