The Chinese Academy of Engineering is one of several academic think tanks directly under the State Council.
- Promote cooperation among the various national-level bureaucracies focusing on engineering, science, and technology, including fostering science and technology research;
- Provide consultation for key engineering, science, and technology decisions, such as large infrastructure projects or national development programs;
- Organize academic exchanges and cooperation on behalf of the engineering, science, and technology community.
