CNCA was established under AQSIQ as an independent entity to promote the unification of separate inspection regimes for domestic and foreign products. The WTO Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Consulting Enquiry Point is also under AQSIQ and is responsible for reporting on standardization requirements to the WTO and to foreign and domestic companies. The organization submits to the WTO current PRC technical regulations, standards, quality evaluation procedures, labeling requirements, and other issues that may affect trade with WTO members.
AQSIQ also established the Standards Administration of China to be responsible for establishing and overseeing supervision of national standards. The Standards Administration of China assumed the responsibilities of the Department of Standards under the former State Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision and works to align PRC import and domestic standards regimes.
