Congressional Districts' Growing Exports to China Offer Context for US-China Trade Debate
WASHINGTON, DC, June 18, 2007 - The US-China Business Council (USCBC) today released the third set of analyses of US exports to China from key congressional districts. "The tremendous growth of US exports to China since its World Trade Organization (WTO) entry in 2001 should be an important consideration in the US-China trade debate in Washington and around the country," said USCBC President John Frisbie (see www.uschina.org/public/documents/2007/06/uscbc-congressional-district-exports-to-china3-2000-06.pdf).
The analysis, undertaken by the Trade Partnership (www.tradepartnership.com), quantifies exports to China from 2000--the year before China joined the WTO--through 2006 from every congressional district represented on the House of Representatives' Appropriations Committee in the 110th Congress.
The report is the latest in a series of analyses the USCBC has launched to help inform the debate about trade with China. Previous releases are available at www.uschina.org/tradefacts.
The USCBC (www.uschina.org) is the leading organization of US companies engaged in business with the People's Republic of China. Founded in 1973, the USCBC provides extensive China-focused information, advisory, and advocacy services, along with events, to more than 250 US corporations operating within the United States and throughout Asia.
