China Is an Important Market for US Goods, Congressional District Figures Show
WASHINGTON, DC, July 5, 2007 - The US-China Business Council (USCBC) today released the fourth set of analyses of US exports to China from key congressional districts. "This latest report underscores the importance of trade with China to exporters across the US--indeed to all American companies looking to expand their markets and grow sales," commented USCBC President John Frisbie (see www.uschina.org/public/documents/2007/07/uscbc-congressional-district-exports-to-china4-2000-06.pdf). "We all know we import a lot from China, but the untold story is how quickly China is growing into an important market for US products."
The analysis, undertaken by the Trade Partnership (www.tradepartnership.com), quantifies exports to China from 2000--the year before China joined the World Trade Organization--through 2006 from every congressional district that elected a new representative to the 110th Congress.
The report is the latest in a series of analyses the USCBC has launched to help inform the debate about trade with China. Previous releases are available at www.uschina.org/tradefacts.
The USCBC (www.uschina.org) is the leading organization of US companies engaged in business with the People's Republic of China. Founded in 1973, the USCBC provides extensive China-focused information, advisory, and advocacy services, along with events, to more than 250 US corporations operating within the United States and throughout Asia.
