Leading Business Group Welcomes New US-China Dialogue Announced by Presidents Obama and Hu in London

WASHINGTON, DC, April 1, 2009 - US-China Business Council President John Frisbie issued the following statement today after US President Barack Obama and PRC President Hu Jintao met in London:

"The US-China Business Council is pleased that President Obama and his administration will quickly begin a high-level, comprehensive dialogue with China. The economic and commercial relationship with China is enormously important to American companies, workers, and farmers. Economic growth, sensible energy and environmental policies, consumer safety, and maintaining open trade and investment flows are key issues that require US and Chinese cooperation and leadership. The issues will not be easy to solve, but the US-China Business Council looks forward to working with President Obama to ensure a successful Strategic and Economic Dialogue with China."

The US-China Business Council issued its China Policy Recommendations in January (http://www.uschina.org/public/documents/2009/01/china-policy-recommendations.html) and a report on exports to China from each US state last week (http://www.uschina.org/public/documents/2009/03/2009-state-export.html).

The USCBC (www.uschina.org) is the leading organization of US companies engaged in business with the People's Republic of China.
