Washington Roundtable on IPR Enforcement:
Tackling Patent Infringement in the US and China
As China steadily improves its protection of intellectual property rights (IPR) through campaigns and better enforcement of revised regulations, US companies continue to tackle IPR infringement on the ground in China and seek workable business solutions. Please join USCBC for an informative discussion on recent changes to patent protection and enforcement and evolving best practices used by companies to protect their rights. The discussion will feature two specialists on IPR issues:
- Luke Minford, country representative for China at Rouse & Company, a full-service IPR firm, will discuss changes and updates to the PRC Patent Law, their impact on companies' research and development and technology plans, and case studies on how company practices have evolved.
- Charles Schill, partner in the Washington office of Steptoe & Johnson, will present on Section 337 investigations, a legal channel at the US International Trade Commission for stopping importation of products that infringe US patents. Schill will describe the process and provide an update on recent cases involving China.
Ample time for questions will follow both presentations.
