The 2024 Two Sessions and US-China Relations Briefing (English Language, Hybrid)
The 2024 Two Sessions are a critical series of meetings that will define China’s economic, political, and foreign policy approach for the coming year. Growth targets, policy priorities, and personnel changes announced at the Two Sessions will all make an impact on American businesses in China. 2024 will also be a pivotal year for the US-China relationship, with China aiming to reinvigorate a shaky post-COVID economic recovery and growing positive momentum after a series of high-level bilateral meetings in 2023 culminated with President Biden and President Xi’s meeting at the APEC Leader’s Summit in San Francisco last November.
USCBC is pleased to invite you to join us for a discussion on the key takeaways of the Two Sessions, recent US-China developments, and how these issues will impact foreign businesses in the coming year. Topics will include, among others:
- Key developments in the US-China relationship
- China’s economic growth trajectory and implications for the business community
- Challenges and opportunities for MNCs in China
Gabriel Wong, PwC China partner and Inbound/Outbound Leader, and Melinda Xu, USCBC Shanghai based Vice President, will deliver the opening remarks. Following presentations from USCBC President Craig Allen, President of Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS) and Member of Shanghai CPPCC Chen Dongxiao, and Vice Chairman & Secretary General of the Shanghai Development Research Foundation (SDRF) Qiao Yide, the speakers will join a panel discussion with Kent D. Kedl, partner and head of Control Risk’s Greater China and North Asia practice, and Kenneth Jarrett, senior advisor at Albright Stonebridge Group. The discussion will be moderated by Noah Fraser, USCBC Senior Vice President of China Operations. Attendees can stay for a Q&A to get answers to the questions that most impact their businesses.
The deadline to register for this program is March 11 at 11:00 pm (China Time). This hybrid event is for USCBC member companies and invited guests only and will be off-the-record. Registration is required. Please register using your work email.
