Washington: China Bilateral Investment Treaty Negotiations Briefing
The US-China Business Council hosted a briefing on China Bilateral Investment Treaty negotiations. Daniel Bahar, Director of Investment Affairs at the Office of the US Trade Representative, and Michael Tracton, Director of the Office of Investment Affairs at the US State Department, provided an update on the state of negotiations and discuss key issues at play.
Washington: Dinner in Honor of Vice Premier Wang Qishan
Chinese Vice Premier Wang Qishan highlighted US companies’ concerns about discriminatory treatment in the China market and the global economic leadership of the United States and China in his remarks at a dinner co-hosted by the US-China Business Council (USCBC) on December 19. The dinner, which followed the close of the US-China Joint Commission on Commerce and Trade (JCCT), was attended by more than 250 individuals, including Wang, Commerce Minister Chen Deming, and nearly 20 other senior Chinese officials from a variety of Chinese government agencies.

The US-China Business Council (USCBC) held its 2012 Gala on December 6 at the Ritz-Carlton in Washington, DC. The event honored China's Ambassador to the United States Zhang Yesui, and former Governor of Utah and US Ambassador to China Jon Huntsman, Jr.

He Ning, minister of commercial affairs at the Chinese Embassy in Washington, DC, discussed China's 18th Communist Party Congress in a briefing co-hosted by USCBC and the US Chamber of Commerce. He spoke about PRC President Hu Jintao's report to the congress, and key points of interest to the US business community. (November 29)
Washington: China’s 2012 Party Congress
USCBC and the Kissinger Institute on China and the United States hosted a discussion with John Frisbie, president of USCBC, and Stapleton Roy, director of the Kissinger Institute, on the outcomes of the 18th Communist Party Congress held in Beijing from November 8-14, 2012. The discussion covered the new party leadership, the state of economic reform in China, and the potential impact on foreign companies. The speakers also remarked on implications for US-China relations and how the US should engage with China. (November 19)
Shanghai China Operations Conference 2012
USCBC hosted its China Operations Conference in Shanghai, which brought together business and policy experts to discuss new operating and policy developments in China. Ren Zhiwu, deputy director general of the PRC National Development and Reform Commission, spoke about China's strategic emerging industries. Other discussion topics included China's leadership transition, the economy, how to manage partnerships, e-commerce, and human resources. (October 31)
Shanghai: Shaping Future R&D Policies in Shanghai
USCBC organized a discussion with the Shanghai Economic and Information Technology Commission (SEITC) for companies to speak directly with local officials on future research and development policies in China. (October 18)
Chicago: Trade Politics and Political Transitions
The Chicago Council on Global Affairs and USCBC co-hosted a lunch program on political transitions in the United States and China. USCBC President John Frisbie spoke about how the US presidential election outcome could affect US-China trade politics. (October 15)

The US Chamber of Commerce and USCBC hosted a debrief with officials from the Office of the US Trade Representative (USTR) and Department of Commerce on procurement issues and ongoing negotiations related to China's accession to the World Trade Organization's Government Procurement Agreement.
