On July 30, SEC Chair Gary Gensler placed new restrictions on China-based companies raising capital on US public equity markets. Prior to that decision, China’s Cyberspace Administration (CAC) also announced new requirements for Chinese companies with greater than 1 million users to pass a cybersecurity review before listing on overseas equity markets. The CAC announcement followed shortly after Chinese ride-hailing app Didi’s IPO in the US.
