China’s Central Economic Work Conference: Understanding the “New Normal”

The Central Economic Work Conference (CEWC) reviewed China’s economic performance in 2014 and set the country’s economic agenda for the year to come. The concept “new normal”, which indicates a desire for slower and higher-quality GDP growth in the coming year, was a significant part of Chinese leaders’ discussion. International integration and foreign investment initiatives were also laid out among China’s economic goals for 2015.

On January 9, Director General Fang Xinghai of the Office of the Central Leading Group of Financial & Economic Affairs Division One will be presenting his views on the key topics of CEWC and its potential impact on multinational corporations operating in China. Mr. Fang will discuss such topics as:

  • Highlighted outcome of the 2014 Central Economic Work Conference
  • Prospects for Chinese economy agenda in 2015
  • How foreign investment can help and align itself with the policy goals of China’s economic reform under the theme “new normal”
