Heightened Security Risk in China: Implications and Best Practices

On May 17 at 9:00am EST, USCBC will hold a members-only, off the record discussion with experts to evaluate China’s revised Counter Espionage Law and recent spate of enforcement actions against American companies.

Recent changes to regulations and an uptick in enforcement activities in China, such as the promulgation of the revised Counter Espionage Law, investigations of US companies, and detention of foreign personnel have raised new questions around security best practices and legal compliance. China’s formal message, that it is open for business and understands the importance of FDI for its economic development goals, and the long-awaited abrogation of travel restrictions, has many companies considering executive travel. New events compel them to reconsider, or at a minimum, seek more information on these latest developments. From a strategic standpoint, it is worth assessing whether recent events constitute a pattern or if this is just discord in the system. Please come with questions ready.
