New York Briefing and Roundtable Discussion on China’s Economic and Business Landscape

China has become a critical component to any successful global business strategy. Foreign firms are increasing their investment in strategic industries, research and development and selling directly to the China market. Many US companies are capitalizing on China’s changing growth story, and many have seen rapid growth in their China investment and sales.

However, the China business outlook for US companies is hardly that simple. Their continued success depends on an ability to manage an array of challenges, including a slowing Chinese economy, new policy trends, increasing competition from Chinese companies and favoritism towards them by China’s government.

Please join us on September 19 for a program co-sponsored by Bloomberg Government and the US-China Business Council to discuss the present state-of-play for US companies in China and trade and investment challenges that currently define the US-China commercial relationship. This program will include two experts with a range of expertise and experience on issues US companies face in doing business in China.

Panelists:

  • John Frisbie (President, The US-China Business Council) will discuss the views of American firms invested in China, the implications of the new leadership, the ongoing economic reform debate, and the top operating challenges for US companies.
  • Sanford Reback (Director of Global Business, Bloomberg Government), an expert on international trade, investment and technology issues, will discuss US-China policy issues and how they affect the prospects for success of US companies in China.

Moderator:

  • Indira Lakshmanan (Senior Correspondent, Bloomberg News) covers US foreign policy. She has reported from more than 50 countries, traveling with the Secretary of State and as a correspondent in Asia, Latin America and Bosnia. She lived in Hong Kong and Shanghai as The Boston Globe’s Asia Bureau Chief.

Schedule:
5:00 pm Cocktails
5:45 pm Program
7:30 pm Networking Reception
