US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) Acting Director Teresa Stanek Rea is spending early September in China, along with senior US government officials from USPTO, the Office of the US Trade Representative (USTR), and the US Department of Commerce. The delegation is holding a series of meetings with key PRC government agencies and organizations that deal with intellectual property issues, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. These meetings are taking place in advance of the mid-year vice-ministerial meeting of the US-China Joint Commission on Commerce and Trade (JCCT) and the JCCT Intellectual Property Rights Working Group, which is slated for later this fall.
Please join us for a roundtable discussion with Mark Cohen, senior advisor to the under secretary and director, USPTO; Holly Smith, director for Intellectual Property and Innovation, Office of the US Trade Representative; and other US government representatives for a briefing on their China meetings and future strategies for bilateral engagement on IPR issues. After a brief overview, ample time will be left for audience questions and answers.
