Webinar: EY on the post-COVID-19 tax environment

Titus von dem Bongart, Partner, and head of the German Business Network (GBN) in Greater China, Korea and ASEAN, will kick off the discussion with an overview of the current business and tax environment of China, COVID 19 Incentives Granted by the Chinese Governments, and trends in China tax digitalization.

  • Mr. Bongart has resided in Shanghai since 1997 and regularly advises on various issues related to China investment practices, including restructuring of China start-ups, international restructuring and supply chain models, and general compliance, among other items. He has experience in foreign investment in China, focusing on areas such as forex, permanent establishments, tax compliance, and tax efficiency and related incentives.

Peter Kao, Partner, International Tax and Transaction Services, will highlight measures in the US affecting MNCs, including an overview of the US Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) and its key tax provisions and cash refunds, credit & incentives opportunities.

  • Mr. Kao has over 20 years of experience working closely with clients in various industries, including US technology, financial services, investment fund, real estate, private company services, family office and family wealth management, manufacturing, and distribution. He has extensive experience in international tax planning, cross-border investment, inbound and outbound investments in Greater China, pre-IPO planning, and transfer pricing advisory.

Finally, Zachary Weinstein, Senior Manager, Global Location Investment, Credits & Incentives Services, will feature the EY Global COVID-19 Relief Tracker, which can help companies identify, assess and manage valuable relief and incentive opportunities around the world.

  • Mr. Weinstein has helped MNCs secure a substantial amount in governmental incentives related to strategic business investment decisions. He focuses on site selection and incentive negotiation, including data analysis and factor weighting, requests for proposals (RFP), community and site visits, labor studies, cost comparison modeling, economic impact modeling, negotiation of incentives, support for implementation, and compliance.
