US business group hopes for clarity as top Chinese official visits

American businesses are hoping that the visit to Washington this week by a top economic adviser to Chinese President Xi Jinping will lead to more clarity about the future pace and direction of China's reform agenda. "What the business community is looking for is actual implementation of measures that would open markets, that would treat foreign companies equally, that would level the playing field," John Frisbie, president of the US-China Business Council, told Politico on Wednesday. "That's the kind of thing that's necessary to restore business confidence in China's policy direction. And those are the kinds of questions that I think will be asked of Liu He when he's here."
