International Trade and Finance Analyst, Congressional Research Service
Michael Sutherland is an International Trade and Finance Analyst for the Congressional Research Service (CRS), a legislative branch agency within the Library of Congress created to provide Members of Congress with authoritative, non-partisan research and analysis. His work primarily focuses on US-China trade and macroeconomic issues. Prior to joining CRS, he worked on China market access issues for a range of organizations in Washington, including Albright Stonebridge Group and the US Department of Commerce. His experience in China includes several years as a consultant for an education startup in Ningbo in addition to Chinese language study in Harbin, Kunming, and Xiamen. He holds a BA from Nebraska Wesleyan University and an MA in International Economics and China Studies from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.
