Liu Kun became minister of finance in 2018. From December 2016 through March 2018, he was the director of the budgetary affairs commission of the National People’s Congress. From 2013 through the end of 2016, he served as vice minister of finance. Prior to that, from July 2010 to May 2013, he was vice governor of Guangdong Province.
Liu was born in 1956 and graduated from Xiamen University in 1982 with a degree in finance and banking. He spent most of his career working for the government of Guangdong Province.
