State Council and SIPO Publish Next Steps for National IP Reform

Newly released ministerial plans set national intellectual property (IP) priorities to further the central government’s top-down drive to reform China’s IP laws. Jointly released by the State Council and the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO), the plans cover 39 government departments including trade, technology, military, and cultural affairs.

Beijing IPR Court Judges Meet USCBC Members

The Beijing Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Court added 20 judges at the end of 2015 to assist with its burgeoning caseload, US-China Business Council member companies learned during a recent visit to the court. Madam Zhang Xiaojin, the presiding judge of Trial Division II, told the delegation that the 45 judges on the Beijing court concluded 5,432 cases of the 9,179 cases it received in 2015.
