Next steps of US-China negotiations unclear due to US actions on Huawei

Trade talks between the United States and China appear to be on hold, with tensions exacerbated by the recent tariff escalation by both sides and actions taken by the United States on Chinese technology company Huawei. No plans have been announced on the next steps, but President Trump this week said he will meet with President Xi at the G20 Summit from June 28 to 29 in Osaka, Japan.

Bilateral negotiations begin next week

The United States and China will hold their first face-to-face negotiations next week to try to reach agreement on difficult trade issues after the consensus reached by Presidents Trump and Xi on December 1.
