Lutnick to Lead Commerce, a Final Biden-Xi Meeting, and USCC Supports PNTR Repeal
In the largest Chinese acquisition of a US IT company ever, aviation and logistics conglomerate HNA Group bought technology distributor Ingram Micro Inc. for $6 billion in cash on Wednesday. Tianjin Tianhai Investment Co Ltd, a unit of HNA Group, bought the tech company at a premium price of $38.90 per share, 31.2 percent higher than its closing price on Wednesday.
When the deal is finalized later in 2016, Ingram – already one of the largest distributors of tech products worldwide – will become the largest revenue generating subsidiary of HNA Group.
Ingram operates the supply chain for many tech companies. This network of tech companies will complement HNA’s existing logistic capabilities to help develop HNA into a supply chain operator. Through Ingram’s customer base in 160 countries, HNA can expand by finding new opportunities in emerging markets.
