Commerce Expands Semiconductor Export Controls, Trump Threatens New China Tariffs, and NDAA Negotiations Continue
To celebrate the US-China Working Group’s fifth anniversary, USCBC hosted a reception and dinner in Washington, DC, on July 27. Jeffrey A. Bader, senior director for East Asian Affairs at the National Security Council, introduced Reps. Rick Larsen (D-WA) and Mark Kirk (R-IL), who discussed the working group’s past and future goals. Rep. Charles Boustany (R-LA), who will take over Kirk’s role in the working group in January 2011, pending re-election, also offered remarks. Roughly 150 guests from the working group, Obama administration, PRC Embassy, Hong Kong and Economic Trade Office, academia, and USCBC member companies attended the event.
USCBC hosted a Washington reception and luncheon on June 17 to welcome new PRC Ambassador to the United States Zhang Yesui and his wife, Madame Ambassador Chen Naiqing. Ambassador Zhang offered remarks on ways to continue building strong bilateral commercial relations and recent developments following the May S&ED in Beijing. Roughly 150 business members, US and PRC government officials, and scholars attended the event. Special thanks to the Coca-Cola Co. for sponsoring the event.
