On February 10, 2025, US President Trump signed an Executive Order (EO) pausing the enforcement of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA). Although the executive order implementing the pause is temporary, it could signal a broader sea change in how the United States approaches corporate anti-bribery enforcement. The EO raises compliance questions for multinational corporations, which must now recalibrate their understanding of global regulations regarding interactions with foreign governments and anti-bribery legislation.
