USCBC Announces New Senior Vice President
WASHINGTON—September 7, 2021—Today, US-China Business Council (USCBC) President Craig Allen welcomed David Thomas as senior vice president in the Washington, DC, office.
“We’re thrilled to have David, who has deep experience and substantial accomplishments in business association leadership and international policy,” Allen said, noting that USCBC is growing rapidly while dealing with a challenging period in the bilateral relationship. “The next few years will be crucial in determining the direction of the relationship, affecting American businesses in all 50 states for the coming decades,” Allen said.
“I’m honored to help lead this well-regarded organization that has played a consequential role in supporting US-China relations for more than 48 years,” said Thomas. “I am excited to partner with my USCBC colleagues to represent our members’ interests and continue shaping the bilateral relationship—today and for many years to come.”
Before joining USCBC, Thomas served as senior counsel for global policy and international trade at the Entertainment Software Association. He previously was vice president at the Business Roundtable (BRT), where he led efforts to help the DC-based association achieve its international economic policy goals. He worked with members of Congress and their staff, executive branch officials, and foreign government officials. At BRT, he played major roles in business coalitions that helped pass legislation involving export controls, free trade agreements, and the reauthorization of the Export-Import Bank of the United States.
He also served as a trade counsel on the House Committee on Ways and Means, and he worked as a lobbyist and lawyer in the Washington, DC, offices of two law firms.
Thomas has a bachelor’s degree from Dickinson College and a law degree from the University of Maryland.
He succeeds Jake Parker, who had been with USCBC for 10 years.
