BEIJING—July 30, 2025—The US-China Business Council (USCBC), a private, nonpartisan, nonprofit organization of around 270 American companies that do business in China, today concluded a two-day trip to Beijing to promote bilateral commercial ties, explore new opportunities for improved confidence, and advocate for a stable, fair, and predictable environment for US businesses in China. The delegation also supported the ongoing dialogue and negotiations between the two governments on bilateral and global issues.

The trip included USCBC board executives, led by USCBC Board Chair and FedEx President and Chief Executive Officer Raj Subramaniam.

“We value the opportunity to connect with Chinese leaders to continue fostering business relationships and share the objectives and concerns of USCBC member companies,” Subramaniam said. “China remains an important market for American businesses, and vital to their global competitiveness.”

The delegation met with Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs Wang Yi, Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao, Minister of Industry and Information Technology Li Lecheng, Vice Chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission Zhou Haibing, and Deputy Governor of the People’s Bank of China Xuan Changneng. Additional meetings were held with Beijing Party Secretary Yin Li and China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Chairman Ren Hongbin. US Ambassador to China David Perdue also hosted the delegation.

The delegation also met with former Vice Premier Liu He and former People’s Bank of China Governor Yi Gang. The trip came amid continued negotiations between the US and Chinese governments on tariffs and trade policies.

“Our meetings in Beijing highlighted the need for the United States and China to reach an enduring agreement on tariffs,” USCBC President Sean Stein said. “Doing so would open the way to resolving market access challenges and policies that have tilted the playing field against US companies in China. Resolving these issues will also give members the confidence to continue investing in China.”

Additional board members who participated in the visit include:

  • Wynn Resorts CEO Craig Billings
  • Thermo Fisher Scientific Chairman, President, and CEO Marc Casper
  • PwC Global Chairman Mohamed Kande
  • Apple COO Sabih Khan
  • United Family Healthcare Founder Roberta Lipson
  • Otis Worldwide Corporation Chair, CEO, and President Judy Marks
  • Boeing Global President Dr. Brendan Nelson AO
  • Goldman Sachs President and COO John Waldron

Established in 1973, USCBC represents many of the world’s largest brands doing business in China and for more than 50 years has advocated on behalf of its members, while promoting the many benefits of commercial exchange between the United States and China.
