BEIJING—July 26, 2024—The US-China Business Council (USCBC), a private, nonpartisan, nonprofit organization of more than 270 American companies that do business in China, today concluded its annual China Operations Conference with an event to mark the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

“Forty-five years ago, visionary leaders from both the United States and China took bold steps to bridge the divide between our countries. Their courage and foresight laid the groundwork for a relationship that has since grown to encompass a vast array of economic, cultural, and political dimensions,” USCBC President Craig Allen said. “As we look to the future, we must continue to work toward reducing trade barriers and improving market access to enhance our economic partnership, ensuring it remains a cornerstone of global prosperity and stability.”

Allen’s remarks were followed by speeches from Deputy Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu, US Ambassador to China Nicholas Burns, Vice Mayor of Beijing Sima Hong, and President of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs Wang Chao.
