USCBC Members Engage with Leaders from US and China to Discuss Ways to Collaborate on Improving Climate Outcomes
WASHINGTON, DC—June 5, 2024—Members of the US-China Business Council (USCBC), a private, nonpartisan, nonprofit organization of more than 270 American companies that do business in China, today participated in a meeting in Washington between US and Chinese officials, who met to discuss carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS).
“USCBC is aligned with President Biden and President Xi Jinping’s commitments outlined last fall in San Francisco to work collaboratively to reduce carbon emissions and minimize climate change,” USCBC President Craig Allen said. “USCBC and its members are actively engaged in supporting both governments as they work toward finding common solutions on pressing climate matters.”
Allen moderated a panel of USCBC members who shared US industry perspectives on carbon management and later hosted a conversation between Department of Energy Assistant Secretary Brad Crabtree and Ministry of Science and Technology Vice Minister Chen Jiachang, as well as US companies and other stakeholders.
The meeting builds upon the Sunnylands Statement, in which the United States and China agreed to advance at least five large-scale CCUS projects in each country by 2030.
Established in 1973, USCBC represents many of the world’s largest brands doing business in China and for more than 50 years has advocated on behalf of its members, while promoting the many benefits of commercial exchange between the United States and China.
