USCBC Reiterates American Business Goals with China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) During the Organization’s Visit to the US
WASHINGTON—July 31, 2024—The US-China Business Council (USCBC), a private, nonpartisan, nonprofit organization of more than 270 American companies that do business in China, today met with the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), the organization that USCBC works closely with in China to advocate on behalf of American business interests there. The trip was led by CCPIT Chairman Ren Hongbin.
“We are pleased to continue our dialogue with CCPIT and Chairman Ren in Washington, especially as we just returned from a very productive trip to discuss ways to further support reform and opening measures for the China market. We are grateful for the support of CCPIT and provincial leaders across China for American businesses,” President Craig Allen said. “We, too, share the perspective that all benefit from an open economy and level playing field to help ensure transparent, fair and stable markets in China. I was encouraged to read the guidance following the July 30 Politburo meeting to address the market challenges around industrial overcapacity and lack of demand in the second half of the year, specifically boosting domestic consumption. This is what is needed to both balance and raise confidence in the Chinese economy domestically and with global partners.”
Today’s meeting took place following the opening of CCPIT’s new office in Washington, DC, in addition to USCBC’s annual board trip to China.
