WASHINGTON, DC, June 19, 2018 – Following Monday’s White House announcement of additional tariffs on up to $450 billion in imports from China, US-China Business Council (USCBC) President John Frisbie issued the following statement:

“None of the actions taken to date by either the United States or Chinese governments will address the problems that American and other foreign companies face in China. Rather than simply engage in one-upmanship, the business community wants to see the two governments actively seek to resolve legitimate concerns around market access and technology protection in China.

“As we have stated repeatedly, tariffs will not solve these problems, but will harm American economic interests and jobs.

“We urge both governments to sit down and negotiate a solution to these important issues. American companies want solutions, not sanctions.”
