USCBC Statement on Recent Global Times Article
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WASHINGTON, DC—February 27, 2023—A recent Global Times article stated that USCBC representatives criticized US Ambassador to China Nicholas Burns’s remarks at a recent American Chamber of Commerce celebratory dinner. It further asserted that USCBC will reconsider whether to invite the ambassador to the celebration of the Council’s 50th anniversary this year.
These assertions are false. No representative of USCBC made these statements.
USCBC is appreciative of the hard work that Ambassador Burns has done in his role in Beijing. USCBC takes seriously our role as a bridge in the US-China relationship and we look forward to continuing to work with Ambassador Burns and the US embassy.
