WASHINGTON, DC—May 23, 2024—The US-China Business Council (USCBC), a private, nonpartisan, nonprofit organization of more than 270 American companies that do business in China, today co-hosted a meeting with the National Committee on US-China Relations (NCUSCR) in New York among members of both organizations and Mayor of Shanghai Gong Zheng.

“USCBC represents leading American companies who do business in China and through our members’ operations in Shanghai support billions of dollars of trade and tens of thousands of American jobs, including farmers and ranchers and those in the heartland of our country,” USCBC President Craig Allen said. “There are thousands of American companies in Shanghai well-positioned to deliver the world’s best technologies and expertise in a wide range of areas from clean energy to consumer goods—trade that both supports US jobs and stabilizes the bilateral relationship.”

USCBC members from a variety of sectors discussed their China operations and how Shanghai can further support American business there. The meeting took place before a forum that explored commercial opportunities in Shanghai, a global center of finance, business, science and technology, and tourism.

Established in 1973, USCBC represents many of the world’s largest brands doing business in China and for more than 50 years has advocated on behalf of its members and promoted the many benefits of commercial exchange between the United States and China.
