USCBC Welcomes Karen Elliott as New Head of Communications
Elliott Brings Global Communications and Public Affairs Expertise from Working in Congress, Journalism, and Other Trade Associations
WASHINGTON—March 21, 2023—US-China Business Council (USCBC) President Craig Allen today welcomed Karen Elliott as vice president of strategic communications and publications in the Washington, DC, office.
“We are excited to have Karen join our team. She brings three decades of experience and knowledge working in a range of communications roles as a journalist, a congressional staffer, a strategic communications advisor, and a communications leader for two other DC-based trade associations,” said Allen. Elliott joins USCBC during a consequential period in US-China relations and for USCBC’s roughly 280 members, many of them among the world’s best-known brands.
“I am delighted to join the council and its talented team of professionals working to promote smart economic policies at such an important moment for the US-China relationship, our members, and the history of the organization,” said Elliott, who until recently worked at the Entertainment Software Association, where she managed all aspects of the communications department and led global communications with counterparts in other regions of the world. “I look forward to partnering with my colleagues to further advance the interests of our members and raise awareness of the council’s work to shape and help sustain the world’s most important bilateral relationship.”
During her career, Elliott has also served as a strategic communications consultant and in senior roles at a public computer networking and communications company, at another DC-based trade association, for two US senators, and as a journalist for the Associated Press and PBS NewsHour. Elliott received an undergraduate degree in journalism from Louisiana State University and a graduate degree in writing from Johns Hopkins University.
She succeeds Doug Barry, who had been with USCBC for four years.
