WASHINGTON—June 18, 2024—US-China Business Council (USCBC) President Craig Allen today announced that Richard W. Harper Jr. has been selected to lead USCBC’s government affairs team in Washington, DC. Harper joins USCBC from the Outdoor Industry Association, where he led the organization’s policy and advocacy agenda and helped build an international trade program supporting outdoor companies.
“We are excited to welcome Rich to USCBC and know that our members will benefit from his trade and hill experience and advocacy expertise,” USCBC President Craig Allen said. “Rich brings deep public policy knowledge and a vast network of relationships across the US government, which will help us achieve our advocacy goals.”
USCBC is a private, nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that represents more than 270 American companies that do business in China. Established in 1973, USCBC represents many of the world’s largest brands and for more than 50 years has advocated on behalf of its members by promoting the many benefits of commercial exchange between the United States and China.
“I am excited to join USCBC and am grateful for the opportunity to lead a dynamic and successful government affairs team,” Harper said. “I had the pleasure of first working with USCBC as a policy advisor for California Senator Dianne Feinstein and look forward to once again raising the voices of USCBC members and highlighting their positive impact on US jobs and the US economy.”
Harper earned his undergraduate degree from Dickinson College and his graduate degree in international relations from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (Bologna, Italy and Washington, DC).
