Global pharmaceutical supply chains are more integrated than ever. With its cost advantages and comprehensive industrial ecosystem, China has become a critical source of pharmaceutical inputs that underpin the US healthcare system and business operations in the life sciences sector. At the same time, China is emerging as a serious center for biotech innovation and novel drug development, adding a competitive dimension that goes beyond supply. Although this interdependence is well recognized, managing it requires greater coordination among policymakers, regulators, and industry stakeholders.
