53rd Annual Membership Meeting
WASHINGTON, DC—June 17, 2026—The US-China Business Council (USCBC), a private, nonpartisan, nonprofit organization of major American companies that do business in China, today announced the election of new board officers and members, including Visa Chief Executive Officer Ryan McInerney as board chair.
“It is an honor to be named board chair of the US-China Business Council, an organization that advocates for the central role of American enterprise in engagement between the world’s two largest economies. Visa is a long-term partner to China, having worked with local banks to facilitate cross-border payments for four decades. We are optimistic about the opportunities ahead for Visa in China and remain committed to digital payment innovation that will benefit the global economy,” said Visa CEO Ryan McInerney. “As Chair, I look forward to working with both governments to pursue a more constructive and stable relationship following the historic Leaders Meeting in Beijing.”
McInerney succeeds FedEx Corporation President and Chief Executive Officer Rajesh Subramanian, who led USCBC’s board for the past two years. The board recognized Subramanian’s board service by naming him Chair Emeritus for a one-year term.
“We are delighted that Ryan will serve as our new board chair and thank Raj for his leadership, unerring commitment, and wise counsel during an uncertain time in US-China relations,” USCBC President Sean Stein said. “We will benefit from Ryan’s considerable leadership experience at the intersection of technology and financial services as we advocate for US companies seeking equity, fairness, and improved market access in China.”
The board welcomed the following new members:
USCBC also appointed one board member to another term as vice chair, Medtronic Chairman and CEO Geoff Martha, and two board members to first terms as officer (Invesco President and CEO Andrew R. Schlossberg as secretary/treasurer, and 3M Chairman and CEO Bill Brown as a second vice chair).
