Ginseng Board of Wisconsin Signs Export Deal with China

The Ginseng Board of Wisconsin announced on April 15 that it signed an export agreement with Beijing-based medicine company Tong Ren Tang Health Pharmaceutical. The agreement lets the Chinese company use the trademark seal on Tong Ren Tang’s purchases from Wisconsin’s Ginseng & Herb Coop over the next 10 years. Wisconsin produces virtually all of the cultivated American ginseng in the United States. According to Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, the contract “has the potential to bring in $150-$200 million in sales.”
